The team's strength lies in its ability to maintain an incredibly high standard of care while working with very scarce resources. It is without a doubt that their passion and love for the animals shows through in every aspect of their work.
Dr. Delfino Guevara
Delfino Guevara D.V.M. graduated from the UNAM University of Mexico and the University of Paris and is the founder of the Isla Mujeres Veterinary Clinic. His years of experience in the field dealing with scarce resources and the often naive pet-owning population coupled with his intellect and drive for an always scientific-based approach makes him an excellent team leader and teacher. He has a passion for education and believes the root of all animal suffering lies in the lack of education of the general populous. He taught at the local college for two years whilst juggling the veterinary practice and has since retired from teaching but continues to educate the younger generation through class trips to the clinic and the clinic laboratory as well starring in a weekly science program on a local children's television show. His work is greatly appreciated and admired by the locals as he is kind and knowledgeable as well as being responsible for initiating the humane stray animal control measure of trap-spay-release on the island.
Dr. Karla Celic Gomez
Dr. Karla Gomez is a dedicated veterinarian with a passion for animal care and community service. With her expertise and commitment, she has been instrumental to expanding clinic operations ensuring that more pets receive the best possible care. Dr. Gomez not only skilled in veterinary medicine but also actively engages with the community, promoting pet wellness. Her warm demeanor and compassionate approach make her a trusted advocate for both animals and their owners.
Doña Mirna
Mirna joined the team in 2010 as our custodial engineer but has since evolved into our very own super woman! The love and compassion she has for our resident cats and kittens waiting to be adopted is inspiring, and as if that wasn't enough she runs all the behind the scenes aspects of the clinic with military precision. She ensures we always have a fresh supply of surgical equipment and that all our medication is in order.
Josmar Pech
Josmar Pech is a has been instrumental to daily clinic operations, assisting in surgeries and pet care. With a strong commitment to helping pets and their owners, Josmar is set to embark on an exciting journey as he begins his studies in veterinary medicine this Autumn. His hands-on experience at the clinic has provided him with valuable insights into the field, and he is eager to expand his knowledge and skills. Josmar looks forward to making a positive impact in the lives of animals and their families in the future.
Señora Cruz
Ms. Cruz is an essential part of the clinic's daily operations with a heart of gold. With a love for cats, she ensures our spaces are not only tidy but also clean, taking care of the needs and cravings of the sanctuary cats and keeping their home comfortable.
Señora Tere
Doña Tere takes care of the clinic's hygiene early in the mornings with Doña Cruz, ensuring the clinic is ready to receive our furry patients every day. Tere shares her home with several pets, who inspire her every day.
Señora Andrea
Miss Andrea is the cats' favorite aunt, caring for the animals on weekends. She takes care of the animals' well-being to support the team and get each week off to a good start. Her cheerful spirit and commitment to the well-being of the animals make her an invaluable part of our team.
